Cairns, The Capital of The Great Barrier Reef, is the last major outpost of civilization before the remote jungle of Cape York Peninsula overtakes the landscape. Cairns, Port Douglas and The Great Barrier Reef are 3 of the prettiest places on earth.

    Cairns Australia

We traveled to Cairns, Australia in February which was "perfect" weather and generally hot and humid. It's important to remember that the seasons in Australia are reversed from the weather in the United States. Cairns is the capital of The Great Barrier Reef and a tropical paradise for diving, snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, renting a yacht, bungy jumping and just great fun in the fun. We took a wave-piercer (a boat) out to The Great Barrier Reef to spend the day diving and we even took a helicopter ride for a breath-taking view of this incredible area.
