    Cancun/Riviera Maya

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Secrets Capri in September of this year. When we arrived at this couples only resort, we were greeted with warm towels for our hands and champagne for toasting. The entryway was breathtaking with marble floors and a beautiful fountain We were quickly escorted to our large tropical deluxe room, complete with marble floors, bathroom and a jetted tub. The resort had flowers, chocolates and champagne waiting to help us celebrate our anniversary.

The resort was luxurious in every sense of the word. From the decor, to the service to the restaurants, our every need was met. I especially enjoyed the waterfall with live turtles in it underneath the back staircase leading to the pool area. For the food connoisseur, the restaurants were delectable! The chefs were as proud of their dishes (evidenced in the incredible presentations) as we were excited to eat them. Some metionables (even though it is hard to name just a few) were the ceviche at the Oceana, the made-to-order sushi at Himitsu Japanese restaurant and the shrimp and the sirloin at the Sea Side Steak House.

There were plenty of activities to do during the day at the resort, from water volleyball, to archery on the beach or aerobics in the pool. For those looking for a more relaxing getaway, you could enjoy the quiet respite of the beautiful white sand beaches while relaxing under a palapa sipping a delicious frozen drink. There were also many activities in the evenings including magic shows, acoustic guitar concert on the beach, Mexican fiesta night, and our favorite- Karaoke night.

We had a wonderful time venturing away from the resort for scuba diving trips to Cozumel and the freshwater, underground rivers, called Sonotes (underground caves) where you can view beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. We saw our first shark (a small nurse shark) on this trip to Cozumel, and many other vibrant types of sea life. The crew with Aqua World was really helpful and made sure we had dive trips to remember!

We took advantage of all the resort had to offer, sailing on the Hobie Kats in the daytime, playing board games at night, hanging out in the piano bar or dancing in the nightclub. The fitness center had new state-of-the-art equipment and a visit there in the morning helped justify our many scrumptious evening desserts. On our final day, we indulged in
a lovely couples massage in the spa and afterwards took turns dipping into the hot tub and sauna.

What made this trip unforgettable was the staff and service at Secrets Capri. They were so happy to assist with any request and responded with "My pleasure" and a smile. Even though this is an all inclusive resort and tipping is not required, we wanted to tip because of the hard work they did and the effort that was put into making our trip one to remember for years to come. We will be back.
